In the modern world, which is more connected than ever, competitiveness needs to be sought and achieved in a global market with the competition that is omnipresent and very dynamic, where economic opportunities alternate and new technologies emerge almost every month. It is no longer enough to be excellent in your own business, produce excellent and high-quality products or provide quality services, quickly and efficiently organize supply and sales chains, or have a good brand and loyal long-term customers.

Nowadays, companies need to constantly invest in product innovation, development of production processes, and their own business to both survive in the market and to ensure an important impact on market trends and the development of certain technologies.

In the past ten years, DIV Group and its members have intensively developed their research and development capacities within the railway and maritime sector, thus recognizing innovation as the basis for competitiveness in the international market, as well as the importance of a systemic approach to the development of innovative products and improvement in production and business processes. The Group established the Sector for Development and Research, a strategic sector responsible for the coordination of strategic development projects.

The purpose of the Sector is to monitor new trends, shaping development and investment projects, and monitoring the available incentives that the state and EU funds offer to entrepreneurs who develop their products based on research and development and achieve broader social goals related to climate change and sustainable development.

In addition to multiannual investment projects in the improvement of production facilities, since 2018 DIV Group has initiated and implemented numerous projects co-financed by the European Structural Funds. Through projects to increase energy efficiency and the introduction of renewable energy sources in production, the members of the Group contribute to the achievement of global goals of sustainable development. Through research and development projects in cooperation with numerous universities and faculties, based on joint research, numerous innovative products intended for the world market are developed and patented. Capacity development ofDIV Group member companies is an important aspect of the overall development, so employees are prepared for the application of new technologies and machines or new production processes in numerous training projects.

In recent years, DIV Group has been involved in numerous infrastructure projects implemented for local and regional self-government units or state-owned companies such as Croatian Railways (HŽ Infrastruktura), Croatian Roads Ltd. (Hrvatske ceste), and Croatian Motorways Ltd. (Hrvatske autoceste).
